Intonate.

Why on earth I need to intonate my guitar, I play guitar for a segs almost my entire life?

We need to intonate simply to achieved perfect pitch. Standard tuning.
To produced good quality of sound. To produced good string harmony a sound so distinct and pleasing to the ears.

Some practical explanations are when tunning your guitar in a digital tuner.
We usually tune E, A, D, G, B, E, . That is open mi , la, and so on. But you don't  realize that its not really in-tune. That is when you take your chromatic digital tuner and put fings-note in it and twang the single string . Outputs are diff. sharps and flats . You ended up in bad chordal.
Lastly intonation makes your notes equal in frequency in every other degree.

Tools needed to intonate.

1. Chromatic digital tuner.
2. Your ax/electric guitar.
3. Amp.
4. Utility screws.

How to intonate?

Procedure:
1.Tune Open string(low octave).

2.Tune equivalent note, high octave , the 12th string, natural harmony occur in that degree position.

3.Check if the second tunning displays sharp. At this example we start the intonation in an open G string and displays sharp eventually. Means not good, not intonated .

fig.1

Intonate bridge to high, that is adjusting it in screw utilities. Clockwise.
fig.2

fig.3
Ideal adjustment is screw your bridge saddle near to the bridge pick-up first, in counter clockwise . Intonation is achived by adjusting clockwise, farther from the pick-up thus intonate.
Here shows the G saddle(whatever the name is) moved farther away from my Duncan.

Tweak until the open string  target display sharp.
Same output as  fig.1.
Please note If the octave display flat , you need to near the saddle to the pickup.

4. Again tune down pegs, re-tune your string(open string) .

fig.4

5. Repeat step 1 to 4 until we achieved the same low octave and high octave tunes.

If the 'Procedure'/instructions are being satisfied!.
Proceed to intonate also other linear degree interval from C down through the neck. Successive intonation in descending manner in linear interval in C. E.g   Sol 12,   Fa 10,   Mi 9,   Re 7,  Do 5,   Ti 4,   La 2.That is an intonation from twelfth fret and to the relative interval such as Mi to Re and so on. The captcha are relative interval should not be sharp also in relation to the twelfth  (should not display flat or sharp) . Note If the octave display flat , you need to near the saddle to the pickup.

In case of La, A at the second fret. This fret is very hard to intonate. That was some sort of guitar imperfection of its sound architecture designed. Relating to the acoustics and the prolonged of its string tensions between the bridged and the neck. Its disharmony of harmonic relation plays like unstable and prolonged unresolved .

The relation of the neck greatly affect the intonation, this includes convex and concave warps on it. Strings also influence the playing and need to be durable strong.
